Well, it is Sunday @ 6:34PM and we are moved into our new house! It only took about 4 hours to load the truck, drive, and then unload the truck due to all of the fantastic help we have.
Now my house is a disaster! There is stuff everywhere. Worse even, is that it is 85+ degrees outside and we don't have A/C. This summer has been beautiful and in the 70's...until this past week. I'm done with 80-90 degrees and humid.

Homeowners!
We closed on our house last Wednesday...therefore, I am too busy to blog.
No seriously. We spent all day Friday/Saturday/Sunday painting then went out for some more Monday after work. Today we're going out to hopefully finish up the painting and then I'm off work tomorrow to finish packing the townhouse, which has been horribly neglected.
So yeah, no blog time...not until after we move Saturday anyways.

There's something sexy about the rain

It's been raining since early this morning. A nice steady rain. I love it...mostly because I don't have to work in it. I love rain but working outside really makes me mad...like all week when it was pouring on me. Today I get to stay in and enjoy it.
I'm not sure if we'll make it out to see the house this weekend due to the rain today and lots of Father's Day activities tomorrow (possibly horse show in the morning, lunch with Dad & Ken at 12:30, Dinner at mom's for John at 5:30). We do have a meeting at the house on Wednesday @3PM with Trent to take photos of all the plumbing and wiring before they put the drywall up.
Also, I started calorie counting today...bad week for it since I'm doing a lot of baking today...oh well, it's a start.
I guess it's down to the kitchen to make 2 pineapple upside down cakes (1 for Dad, 1 for Chase/me) and a ricotta cake for John. Then house cleaning. Woo-hoo!
There's something sexy about the rain
She said as it came pouring down
It feels like kisses on my skin
She spread her arms and spun around
In a summer island storm
In a field of sugarcane
She taught me how and showed me why
There's something sexy about the rain
And sometimes it rained all night
And everything she did was perfect
And every way we were was right
We loved like there was no tomorrow
Then suddenly tomorrow came
And it was raining at the airport
And kept on raining on the plane
She only loved me for a season
But my heart won't ever be the same
Even now her love's the reason
There's something sexy about the rain
And sometimes when it's pouring down
I feel her kisses on my skin
I spread my arms and spin around
And let that summer island storm
Hit me like a hurricane
It's like she's right here whispering
There's something sexy about the rain
She followed me back to the city
In a picture in my mind
She's still young and she's still pretty
And even after all this time
There's something sexy about the rain
She said as it came pouring down
It feels like kisses on my skin
She spread her arms and spun around
In a summer island storm
In a field, in a field of sugarcane
She taught me how and showed me why
There's something sexy about the rain
She taught me how and she's still why
There's something sexy about the rain
Something sexy about the rain
Feels like kisses on my skin
In a summer island storm
Something sexy

Progress!
So after not doing anything to our house on Week 3...Week 4 rocked!
There are tons of pictures here.
John stopped out today during his lunch break and was excited to report that they've got most of the shingles up...no sign of siding yet, but I expect that will be up before too long. Wiring will be going in on Friday and we should be having our pre-drywall meeting sometime this week.

Ennui
Lately, I've been feeling as though I've got a case of ennui. A word that I learned on Gilmore Girls many years ago...From Wikipedia:
Ennui is a word meaning general lack of interest or boredom, or depression. It may also refer to oppressive boredom.
Michel: Look, I've had my peace with the fact that everyone who calls here is a notch above brain dead, and that the pennies I am thrown each week are in exchange for me dealing with these people in a nonviolent manner. And usually that is fine, but today, sorry lady, I have ennui.Lorelai: So, you're sleepy?
Michel: It's a metaphysical angst.
Lorelai: So, you wanna go beddy bye?
Michel: You make light, it increases my ennui.
Lorelai: Okay, that's it. Come on you need coffee.
[1.21 Love, Daisies, and Troubadours]
I just can't seem to shake this feeling and it's getting to be a bit obnoxious.
On top of that, they didn't do a thing to our house last week. However, our windows/doors/lumber were all delivered. So hopefully this week the framing will all be going up and we'll have something to take pictures of this weekend. We did stop by this past Saturday after going to Canal Days (where we tried, and LOVED, deep fried Oreos) and since my mom was with us we had her take a picture of us...where our future deck will be. You can see some of the lumber in the front yard. We didn't get any photos besides this one because my camera battery was dead.
Maybe tomorrow I'll post some pictures and a recap of the Kenny Chesney concert last week. It was incredible and of the 7 times I've seen him I can honestly say it was the absolute best concert he's put on. No question. It's all that I've been able to think about for the past few days and it's become a bit of an obsession...Hey, the first step is admitting you have a problem, right?
I apologize for the jumbled mess that this blog seems to be...I took some Tylenol PM a little while ago and well yea...it's kicking in.
Goodnight.

Our House - Week 2
So this past week, despite the insane amount of rain we got, our basement walls and foundation were poured. They also almost finished back filling around the foundation and grading the yard. We stopped out Sunday to take a few pictures and wandered around for a while. We mapped out where we'd like our fence and deck and talked about trees. It's been nice the past couple weeks our next door neighbors have put in a brick patio and landscaped some so we got a few ideas from them.

Week 1 - Really just 2 days long
So I'm a little bit behind on blogging. Thursday, May 21 ground was broken for our house! We went out on Saturday to take some pictures and snoop around. So far they've got the hole dug and the basement walls framed and ready to be poured. It's so exciting to finally see the 'house' sitting there, knowing where on the lot it will be and where in relation to the neighbors. The foundation looks small. I have this hang up about our house being small but every time I go to the model of our house I'm pleasantly surprised at how big it is. It is just over 2100 sq ft.
Here's a couple pictures from last week.
Here I'm standing in the driveway facing the house. The garage is the pile of dirt...kitchen is directly behind that, with the formal dining/living room next to it.
Here I'm standing on a large pile of dirt in our back/side yard. That's the morning room sticking off the back of the house. We will be heading out there again probably tomorrow to take more pictures. From what our project manager has told us, they've got the foundation all poured and have started back-filling with dirt. This week we can expect to see framing going up and possibly the basement/garage floors poured.

We did it.
Tonight, after waiting over an hour because other appointments ran late, we bought a house. We signed all of the contractor paperwork/contract (just got the mortgage paperwork to fill out) and have our new address. We have chosen the color of our siding, shutters, doors and trim. I can't wait to go to the design center to pick out the flooring, counter tops, ect.
Move in date is set for August 1st.
Tomorrow we get to go put our 'SOLD' sign up on our lot! Hopefully it will be nice out.

Holy craziness!
So let me just recap this past week for you:
Friday - we both worked then met Cara at Applebee's for dinner and drinks. Then it was off to the mall to buy Chase a few new work shirts. Success!
Saturday - Sleep in, grocery shopping, also stopped at Target and Sterling Optical to find me new glasses. Then Knighthawks game with Cara and her whole family.
Sunday - Lazy day. Convinced Mom to drive out here to bring me ice (we don't have an ice maker and use a lot of ice, Mom has an ice maker but hardly uses any ice so she brings it to me). While her and John were here we decided to go look at the models at Ryan and Faber Homes...they're right down the street from us. We loved them. I'd been wanting to look at Ryan because they have a neighborhood out in our desired location. We decided to make an appointment for Monday evening to talk to Pat about financial stuff, just to see where we sit. After looking at the ones here we decided to drive out to Farmington to check out the one we want to live in - dreaming. They only had 6 lots left, sad.
Monday - Work for both of us, meeting with Pat at 6pm. We were there until 8, kept him an hour late, and left with the financial breakdown for two different floor plans. We fell in love with the larger one and my hopes started soaring - I want to live in that house!
Tuesday - Work, went to Gates/Chili to look at glasses with Cara and had lunch at Subway, then went to Greece to pick up my trial contacts. At 5:30 we had another appointment with Pat at Ryan Homes to walk through our desired floor plan, they're building it as a model. We ended up leaving him a check to hold a lot.
Wednesday - Work, interview at Hemisphere Management, dinner with Mom and John to get their opinions on our building a house that is well over what we thought our price range was. Conclusion = We can afford it and still put money away into savings.
Saturday we go back to Ryan to sign the contract and work through all that. We're bringing Mom and John to make sure we don't miss anything and to show them the model that's being built.
Yea, we're building a house. So much for getting a cheap starter that needs tons of work! I'm quite excited. & terrified.
