Today we went to Mom's house around 2ish, and stayed until almost 10. The keedz were exhausted and begging to go home. They'd run around the yard all day and didn't get a nap.
This is where Zeus stayed the entire 20 minute ride home:
Yes, Chase buckled him in.

Boats
On Tuesday after work I met Dad down at the boat launch and we went out for a few hours then got lunch at Pelican's. We took a ride down to Irondequoit Bay and rode to the other end of it, where we proceeded to hit a rock...don't worry hardly any damage was made. Anyways, just as we were entering the Bay there were a TON of swans. Seriously like 50. All of the white dots in these pictures, yea swans.

The Bay bridge:
The house my dad wants, it's on a super tiny island in the Bay and the only way to get there is by boat.
At Pelican's we sat out on the deck right by the water (so Dad could keep an eye on the boat) and I saw a HUGE fish! It was enormous and had orange lips. I fed him french fries.
We also fed these guys a few fries (and the ducks) hence the reason he is sitting on the post squawking at us.

Turtle
Yesterday on my way home from work I saw a snapping turtle in the street. I pulled over to take a picture...and to make sure he got out of the street. He did.

Bleh
I woke up cussing at my alarm clock this morning.
Chase laughed at me.
Things are looking up now though...Pita Pit for dinner!
Now I just need to decide if I want to go lay out or not...
I think I will.

There's something sexy about the rain

It's been raining since early this morning. A nice steady rain. I love it...mostly because I don't have to work in it. I love rain but working outside really makes me mad...like all week when it was pouring on me. Today I get to stay in and enjoy it.
I'm not sure if we'll make it out to see the house this weekend due to the rain today and lots of Father's Day activities tomorrow (possibly horse show in the morning, lunch with Dad & Ken at 12:30, Dinner at mom's for John at 5:30). We do have a meeting at the house on Wednesday @3PM with Trent to take photos of all the plumbing and wiring before they put the drywall up.
Also, I started calorie counting today...bad week for it since I'm doing a lot of baking today...oh well, it's a start.
I guess it's down to the kitchen to make 2 pineapple upside down cakes (1 for Dad, 1 for Chase/me) and a ricotta cake for John. Then house cleaning. Woo-hoo!
There's something sexy about the rain
She said as it came pouring down
It feels like kisses on my skin
She spread her arms and spun around
In a summer island storm
In a field of sugarcane
She taught me how and showed me why
There's something sexy about the rain
And sometimes it rained all night
And everything she did was perfect
And every way we were was right
We loved like there was no tomorrow
Then suddenly tomorrow came
And it was raining at the airport
And kept on raining on the plane
She only loved me for a season
But my heart won't ever be the same
Even now her love's the reason
There's something sexy about the rain
And sometimes when it's pouring down
I feel her kisses on my skin
I spread my arms and spin around
And let that summer island storm
Hit me like a hurricane
It's like she's right here whispering
There's something sexy about the rain
She followed me back to the city
In a picture in my mind
She's still young and she's still pretty
And even after all this time
There's something sexy about the rain
She said as it came pouring down
It feels like kisses on my skin
She spread her arms and spun around
In a summer island storm
In a field, in a field of sugarcane
She taught me how and showed me why
There's something sexy about the rain
She taught me how and she's still why
There's something sexy about the rain
Something sexy about the rain
Feels like kisses on my skin
In a summer island storm
Something sexy

Song of the Summer: Where Did You Come From, Kenny Chesney?

For the second straight week, we have serious movement within the Power Rankings. Things stay predictably static at the very top with “Boom Boom Pow,” but former heavyweight “Blame It” continues to slip, while young upstarts “Birthday Sex” and “Best I Ever Had” solidify their positions. We also welcome back an old friend making a dramatic return and greet an SOTS fringe contender who could no longer be ignored.
But most surprising of all? The smackdown Kenny Chesney’s “Out Last Night” put on the Rankings this week. We admit, when we slotted Chesney in last week at No. 8, it may have had just a touch to do with his token-country qualification. But “Out” has proven us prophetic, jumping from No. 60 all the way to No. 16 on the Hot 100. Now we realize that we underestimated this thing — why wouldn’t a silly song about being irresponsibly wasted take off? (We especially like this part: “I was a doctor, a lawyer, a senator’s son / Brad Pitt’s brother and a man on the run / anything I thought would get the job done.” Classy, Kenny.) Could it really give the big dogs a run for their money? As long as Mr. Chesney continues to refuse to wear sleeves, we see no reason why not.
1. Black Eyed Peas, “Boom Boom Pow”: Now that their new album is out, Black Eyed Peas should have another chart to dominate: If estimates hold, The E.N.D. will top the Billboard 200 next week.
2. Drake, “Best I Ever Had”: Okay, so those Rihanna rumors weren’t just rumors? Well done, young man.
3. Jeremih, “Birthday Sex”: Most plays on MySpace means Jeremih’s got the 13- to 15-year-old set locked down.
4. Keri Hilson feat. Kanye West and Ne-Yo, “Knock You Down”: Back with a vengeance. Cracking the Hot 100’s top five will do that.
5. Kenny Chesney, “Out Last Night”: Seriously, if anyone’s written a more carefree, seasonally appropriate jam this year, we’d like it brought to our attention.
6. Jamie Foxx feat. T-Pain, “Blame It”: Slowly and steadily slipping, this time down to No. 10 on the Hot 100. Has it been done in by its own airplay ubiquity (and when, oh when, will this happen to “Boom Boom Pow”?).
7. Pitbull, “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)”: Peaking at No. 2 on the Hot 100 means we can no longer ignore you, Pitbull. Welcome — you should probably go ahead and make yourself comfortable.
8. Sean Kingston, “Fire Burning”: The newbie's already the No. 3 most-downloaded song on iTunes. Plus, it uses a heat metaphor to describe the attractiveness of a lady dancing — always good for this time of year.
9. Green Day, “Know Your Enemy”: They’re still everywhere — but is that a good thing? And have you actually heard this playing during any kind of summer activity?
10. Animal Collective, “Summertime Clothes”: Releasing the video for “Summertime Clothes” means A.C. bumps Grizzly Bear’s “Two Weeks” for the indie-barbecue-playlist spot.

Progress!
So after not doing anything to our house on Week 3...Week 4 rocked!
There are tons of pictures here.
John stopped out today during his lunch break and was excited to report that they've got most of the shingles up...no sign of siding yet, but I expect that will be up before too long. Wiring will be going in on Friday and we should be having our pre-drywall meeting sometime this week.

Somewhere In The Sun
[Jost Van Dyke, BVI]Here's a toast to you on the coast and the sailors out at sea
Drink your ales, hoist your sails
Ride the winds and think of me, 'cause
Oh I wish I was there tonight on Jost Van Dyke
Sipping on some Foxy's Firewater rum
Or kickin' back with Ivan
With all my friends down in the islands
Wouldn't take much for me to up and run
To another life somewhere in the sun
Somewhere in the sun

Ennui
Lately, I've been feeling as though I've got a case of ennui. A word that I learned on Gilmore Girls many years ago...From Wikipedia:
Ennui is a word meaning general lack of interest or boredom, or depression. It may also refer to oppressive boredom.
Michel: Look, I've had my peace with the fact that everyone who calls here is a notch above brain dead, and that the pennies I am thrown each week are in exchange for me dealing with these people in a nonviolent manner. And usually that is fine, but today, sorry lady, I have ennui.Lorelai: So, you're sleepy?
Michel: It's a metaphysical angst.
Lorelai: So, you wanna go beddy bye?
Michel: You make light, it increases my ennui.
Lorelai: Okay, that's it. Come on you need coffee.
[1.21 Love, Daisies, and Troubadours]
I just can't seem to shake this feeling and it's getting to be a bit obnoxious.
On top of that, they didn't do a thing to our house last week. However, our windows/doors/lumber were all delivered. So hopefully this week the framing will all be going up and we'll have something to take pictures of this weekend. We did stop by this past Saturday after going to Canal Days (where we tried, and LOVED, deep fried Oreos) and since my mom was with us we had her take a picture of us...where our future deck will be. You can see some of the lumber in the front yard. We didn't get any photos besides this one because my camera battery was dead.
Maybe tomorrow I'll post some pictures and a recap of the Kenny Chesney concert last week. It was incredible and of the 7 times I've seen him I can honestly say it was the absolute best concert he's put on. No question. It's all that I've been able to think about for the past few days and it's become a bit of an obsession...Hey, the first step is admitting you have a problem, right?
I apologize for the jumbled mess that this blog seems to be...I took some Tylenol PM a little while ago and well yea...it's kicking in.
Goodnight.

Concert TIme!
So tonight Chase and I are going to the Kenny Chesney concert at Darien Lake. I seriously can't wait for Chase to get home because that means it's time to go! I've still got about 4 hours left waiting for him. Anyways, Lady Antebellum and Miranda Lambert are opening for him which I'm excited about. I haven't seen Miranda Lambert since I met her down at Pelican's like 5 years ago just before she made it huge!
We will be watching from the 9th row! This is the closest actual seat I've ever had to Kenny...although I've snuck up to about 3rd row a few times. Maybe I can sneak tonight and manage an autograph at the end of the show. We shall see. If nothing else I know we'll have a fantastic time and will have great pictures to share tomorrow.
Weslea will be broadcasting live from outside the concert from 3-7. She's got 2 meet and greet passes to give away. I hope I make it there in time to put my name in! She's also got Miranda Lambert from 6-7 there with her. Maybe I'll get a chance to meet Miranda again.
It feels weird to not be tailgating. Last year when we saw him in Dallas we started out around 1pm and drank/ate for hours before the show in the heat of the sun in the middle of Pizza Hut Park's parking lot. I was burnt beyond belief with crazy tan lines but loved it.

Our House - Week 2
So this past week, despite the insane amount of rain we got, our basement walls and foundation were poured. They also almost finished back filling around the foundation and grading the yard. We stopped out Sunday to take a few pictures and wandered around for a while. We mapped out where we'd like our fence and deck and talked about trees. It's been nice the past couple weeks our next door neighbors have put in a brick patio and landscaped some so we got a few ideas from them.
