It started snowing late last night and hasn't stopped. I'm guessing that about a foot has fallen so far.
Here's to hoping it lets up before the commute to work tomorrow & doesnt' start up again until late night Friday so Chase can safely get back home from Auburn.
Also, I got my haircut. I went back to the Scott Miller Salon and was able to get the same stylist who used to do my hair before I moved.
Needless to say, I love my new 'do. :)
Time for leftover Chinese food.
It's what us Asians do.

Toes in the Sand
So on Saturday morning I watched a GAC special called Kenny Chesney: Lucky Old Sun. Basically it was Kenny down in the Bahamas on his boat/beaches playing his new songs acoustically and being awesome.
It really made me want to go someplace tropical - right now. I feel this incredible pull inside of me that's making me need to go! I really just want to warm my toes in the sand while watching the waves roll in, soaking up the sun. I got to looking online at possible vacations this spring/summer and they're all so expensive! I mean we could probably drive down to NC without a problem, but I want to go to the Islands! Ok, I'd settle for Florida. I want to listen to the steel drum band playing while drinking a margarita.
Maybe the incredible need to be there is fueled by the subzero temperatures we've been experiencing for the past few weeks. Who knows.
I just need to go!

Good News
So they were able to get Grandpa in for surgery this morning at 9. We went to see him this evening and spent about 2 hours there. He was very energetic and enthusiastic - hardly looked like he'd had surgery this morning to put in a pacemaker! He was very talkative and happy to have company, we ran into Nancy and Nick and also Doug. They're actually sending him home tomorrow morning if everything goes as planned.
It was great to see him so upbeat today. We had lunch with him and Grandma on Saturday and he was very quiet and seemed sort of out of it, just very tired. Tonight he was like a new man.
Mom talked to Grandma this evening after we left the hospital (she was home) and she was happy we all went to see him. Grandma also sounded like she'd gotten some sleep and was more rested than yesterday which is good.
Now that I know my family is taken care of, it's time to go watch American Idol - not Lost.

Worried
So tonight my mom called to tell me that Grandpa is in the hospital. He went in for his normal check up with his doctor today and the doctor sent him straight to the emergency room because his blood pressure was so low. Within 30 minutes of arriving to the ER, the doctor there was with him. Since it's so last minute we don't know what time, but at some point tomorrow he's going to have surgery to put a pacemaker in. I'm really worried about him, he's in his mid-80's...and Grandma, she's home alone tonight. She supposed to call Mom tomorrow around lunch time and give her an update, that is if there's no news beforehand.
It's just very unsettling, just Saturday we were at my Mom's and they were booking a trip to Miami in March. Now Grandpa is going in for another heart surgery.

Wanted
Tonight after a dinner of toasted bagels (yeah I didn't feel like cooking, bad wife) we bought Wanted On Demand. What a good movie. For some reason I thought Angelina Jolie catches a bullet in her teeth in this movie...apparently I was wrong. Was that in Mr. & Mrs. Smith? In this one they just curve the bullets...that's all. ;)
Cara's home. That's good. I've been worrying about her driving to DC and back all by herself, especially in the dark tonight. Maybe now I can rest easy. For some reason I haven't been sleeping that well these past few days.
Anyways, after a long day at work and then shopping and lunch with Mom, I think I'm going to call it an early night. -time to go find 2 Tylenol PM-

Dinner & A Movie
So last night we went out on a date. :) We went to the Olive Garden and had wonderful food, as always. There was a couple sitting at the table next to ours and as soon as we got there the girl asked for the check. Then she made a phone call, the guy was in the bathroom. He comes back in and sits down, she's still on the phone, and he just starts talking. This goes on for about 15 minutes. Mind you she's not speaking at all (to the person on the phone, or him) and he's speaking in Spanish, laughing and having a grand old time telling her some crazy story. Finally she gets off the phone and he continues story time, with her not speaking, for about another 30 minutes before they left. Weird.
After dinner we went to see Gran Tornio. I really didn't know what it was about but had seen previews on TV and thought it still looked good. What a great movie. Chase really liked it too. It was hilarious through most of it, if you can appreciate some pretty heavy racial comments, and ended really sad. Very good though, I would highly recommend it.
This morning the windchill is down to -13*...I haven't tried to take the dogs out yet, but it's not going to be fun. Their little feet have been freezing all week and they start crying. I can't wait for it to warm up a bit.
Today we're going to get Chase's hair cut and my nails off/manicure. Then it's off to Mom's to watch Private Practice since mine didn't DVR this week...and to have lunch with them and my Grandparents. The rest of the weekend will be pretty lazy and quiet. I'm rather excited.

I'm Alive
So damn easy to say that life’s so hard
Everybody’s got their share of battle scars
As for me I’d like to think my lucky stars that
I’m alive, and well
It’d be easy to add up all the pain
And all the dreams you set and watch go up in flames
Dwell on the wreckage as it smolders in the rain
But not me, I’m alive
And today you know that’s good enough for me
Breathing in and out is a blessing can’t you see
Today is the first day of the rest of my life
And I’m alive, and well
I’m alive, and well

Airplanes & such.
So we successfully made it to Houston and back. We were able to see most of Chase's family which was nice, and I even got to ride when we went out to Pennington! Only problem there is that my butt isn't made for a western saddle. No, seriously. I had bruises - painful, purple bruises. I had lots of fun though. Really makes me miss riding.
After getting back to Houston we opened presents with the immediate family and went to bed. Bad idea. I hardly slept Sunday night and then woke up in the morning feeling like crap. I was so sick I didn't even make it to Waffle House. Yea, no faking here. It started out with cold sweats, swollen throat, nausea....and has developed into a wonderful congested head cold. Yay. Sitting here and home now, I'm still coughing and blowing my nose every 1.975493245640461 seconds.
I got to thinking yesterday on the plane...and I hate flying. The year of 2008 was full of planes for me and I don't ever plan to have another year like that. Lets see, in June we flew to Costa Rica (3 planes, each way), then in August we flew to Houston for Chase's graduation (2 planes, each way), not long after that we went on our honeymoon and had to fly down to Tampa (we had direct flights each way), and now we just went to Houston (2 planes each way). That's too much for me. I find myself becoming more and more nervous on the planes. I think I'd rather drive from now on.
Well, Mom and John should be here soon with Oslo and pizza. Off to finish cleaning!
