Yesterday on my way home from work I saw a snapping turtle in the street. I pulled over to take a picture...and to make sure he got out of the street. He did.

Apparently you aren't supposed to pick them up and help them across the street. It messes up their internal compass I guess and is more risky than possibly getting smooshed. Random factoid! You did the right thing.
